"Rob a bank?" he looked at her. "You are joking right?"

Felicia smiled. "No, darling, we're going to go to the bank and open that safe-deposit box where your dear Lisa put MY necklace or..-" she looked at him.

"Or what Felicia," Laura asked. She still was very unsteady, and Remington held his breath.

"Or I simply pull the trigger," she told Remington with a viscious smile. "And your little Lola will see Angels in heaven."

"You can't do this Felicia!!" Mildred said.

"Why not?" she asked.

"Don't you have any conscience?" Mildred asked again.

"No, Felicia will simply tell the police that she killed three unarmed people in self-defense like always, right Felicia?" Remington asked, a cold smile in his face.

"We will help you on one condition." Laura said, as she rose from the floor.

"What- condition?"

"That Mildred helps my father while we go to the Bank." Laura looked straight into Felicia's eyes.

"Laura-" Remington began, but Laura give him one of her 'don't even start' looks.

"Well, well, well little mother-to-be is trying to be tough," Felicia laughed. "But if you don't hurry, Michael, with your decision your dear father-in-law will be dead," Felicia said as she glanced at the Carlton Holt's still body. Remington looked at Laura. She looked so vulnerable, so tiny -like a little girl. He knew he must do this for her. He loved her so much.

"All right Felicia I'll go with you- but Laura and Mildred go with Carlton to the hospital," Remington said.

Felicia's smile was triumphant.

Laura grabbed her coat, as Mildred asked, "Honey where are you going?"

"I'm going with them," she said.

"No," Remington said in a soft voice. "You're going with your father Laura, and don't look at me like that," he told her.

"No!" she replied. "I'm going with you becouse you'll need me."

"No, Laura your father needs you right now, I can do this myself, " Remington told her. "And I don't want see you or our baby hurt. Please, Laura," he begged her.

"Really, Michael soon you will ask your little Lisa on your knees for permission to do anything," Felicia sneered.

Remington looked at Laura. 'Please' his eyes pleaded silently with her.

"I'll stay with Daddy Rem," she whispered. `Thank you God' Remington thought as Laura sat on the couch. She looked tired.

"If we've finished this little chat" Felicia smiled.

"Shut up, Felicia" Remington said. "We must go," he told Laura.

Felicia smiled again. "Then come on darling." She moved closer to him and linked her arms around his neck.

Remington pulled away, his eyes cold. "I told you Felicia, I'm married." Felicia's smile disappeared.

"Remington, please..." Laura rose from the couch. "Be careful."

"I will, love," he promised her. Remington give her quick kiss. "See you later."

*******

Laura sat with her father as Mildred called the ambulance. "They'll be here soon," Mildred told her. "How is he?"

"Not good, he's lost a lot of blood," she said. "Hold on Daddy. Help's on the way."

*******

Remington parked his car on the street behind the bank. He'd go up to the roof. He knew what he had to do. On the roof he came up to a skylight and put on some dark glasses. 'Yes' he thought as he saw the blue alarm line inside. He selected a code on the security box. When line disappeared he opened the window and went inside. `It's too easy' he told to himself as the safe opened on the first try.

Felicia had disappeared, telling him that she was going to keep an eye on Laura and Mildred, make sure they didn't tell the authorities what they were up to. Told him where to meet her and when. "I wouldn't advise your being late, darling," she had purred, pulling his head down to hers for a final kiss.

Now, although the bank alarms hadn't gone off, Remington's internal alarms were blaring full blast. If this had been the old days, he would have called it off. But Laura's life was at stake. He knew that Felicia would make good on her threats. He recognized the look of a killer after all these years.

Laura refused to leave Carlton's side once they reached the emergency room- until the doctor assured her that he thought he was going to be fine, that the bullet would be easily removed in surgery and probably hadn't done any major damage. "We must wait now," the doctor told Laura.

******

"Felicia, what are you doing here?!" Remington asked when he opened the safety deposit box that contained the necklace and heard a soft sound behind him. His eyes narrowed as she came closer.

"I was waiting for you Michael," she said seductively, her eyes on the diamond. "We can sell the necklace and run off to the Riviera. Just the two of us, like the old days."

"You are insane. Laura was right." Remington told her. When she tried to kiss him he pushed her away, sickened.

"Forget about your little Lisa and come with me," she purred.

"Laura is my wife, I love her and I will never, ever leave her," he said sharply. He could see that her shoulder wound had weakened her- but there was still enough steel in her eyes to make him realize she wouldn't hesitate to use the gun she held on him.

Felicia sighed deeply, and picked up the necklace. "Well, then..." she started to say when alarm came on.

Laura sat in the hallway in the hospital. Suddenly she stood up.

"Hon, are you OK?" Mildred asked with worry in her voice.

"Remington needs me," she said.

"But what about your father, Laura," she asked.

"I can't do anything for him, but I must help Harry." She didn't look at Mildred, her eyes were on the door.

"Harry? I thought his name was Remington," Mildred said, trying to stop her.

"NO, his name is Harry. I know that."

Mildred looked at her, uncertain. "From who?"she asked. Laura looked at the door again.

"From his father Mildred. Daniel told me Remington's real name. He also showed me a birth certificate. Mr. Steele's real name is-" She took a deep breath "His real name is Harrison Daniel Chalmers and he was born May 16, 1953," she said with a small smile.

"Why didn't you tell him? He's waited all his life to find his father and his name. You know that!" Mildred almost screamed.

"I know- but Daniel didn't want me to tell him until- he told me that I could tell him when..." Laura paused for moment.

"When what?" Mildred asked.

"When we have a baby."

"So you're gonna tell him now, right?" Mildred looked at Laura with a smile in her eyes.

"Yes," she answered. "After all this is done. But right now I have to go to Remington," she insisted as she rose and went to the door.

*******

"The police!" Remington said, glaring at Felicia's satisfied smile. "You set me up bitch!" he hissed, as she took off, necklace in hand.

He started running as well, hearing one of policemen call out, "Don't move."

Remington didn't stop. He ran to the cash-desk area, not caring whether Felicia made it out or not. He ducked behind the teller's stations, tucking himself into a dark area that would be difficult to see. There, he waited until the policemen moved to another area in their search.

When the policemen's voices faded, he rose and crept to the unlocked door. He was just outside the door when he heard a voice. "Freeze. Hold it right there."

But Remington didn't listen. He ran, aware that the the young policeman had lifted his pistol and was taking aim.

Remington heard the gunshots...
